ftwilliam.com is a leading provider of software for retirement service providers with approximately 100,000 plans currently using ftwilliam.com documents. The document product line consists of a wide range of retirement plan documents and welfare benefit plans as well as all related forms and notices.

This position assists the efforts of the document drafting team serving as a support liaison and plan document and supporting materials drafter. Additional responsibilities include working with other members of the ftwilliam.com team on drafting, quality control (testing) and accuracy of all retirement, non-qualified, and welfare benefit plan documents on the ftwilliam.com system.

In addition, this position stays current on regulations and provides details to the team to help guide decisions regarding document content and features. They will also provide support to internal and external clients with technical and product issues, working with the ERISA attorney to resolve complex inquiries by researching technical publications, and product guides.

This position assists with all aspects of the ftwilliam.com document software. ftwilliam.com supports retirement service providers, and the products are designed to serve as a total document solution for them. Documents offered by ftwilliam.com include 401(k), 403(b), defined contribution (DC), defined benefit (DB), 409A, 457(b), ESOP, cash balance, governmental plans, church plans, and welfare plans.

This position assists with monitoring and implementing legal updates that affect the plan types offered by ftwilliam.com. Additionally, they will need to view technical and legal changes through the eyes of the customer and provide practical solutions to clients.

  • Document drafting – Using our internal drafting software, prepare updates to ftwilliam.com documents for changes in law and guidance for all document types on the system, including preparing documents for IRS pre-approval for new restatement cycles.

  • Work with our ERISA attorney on when to begin drafting projects, explain milestones, and inform team of timelines.

  • Work with the Document Product Team to assist with logic needed for document software updates.

  • Work alongside our ERISA attorney and Product Owner on the document restatement process and ensure that any necessary required amendments are identified and drafted to be used within the ftwilliam.com plan document software.

  • Provide quality assurance and third-party review of drafting projects.

  • Document consulting – While no legal advice is provided, this position frequently assists sales, customers, and prospective customers with document drafting questions.

  • Draft or assist with drafting of customer communications and support materials.

  • Assist with the drafting/reviewing of technical updates for customers.

  • Attend industry and ftwilliam.com conferences as requested by the Associate Director of Compliance and Product Design.

  • Understand the plan document software inside and out and be able to demonstrate and speak to features whenever necessary or requested by the Associate Director of Compliance and Product Design.

  • Assist the Document Support team with escalated technical tickets and engage in-house ERISA attorney or third-party legal team when questions cannot be handled internally.

  • Provide institutional document expertise when requested.

Job Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience with plan documents, forms software, and how those elements work within a retirement services client’s practice

  • In-depth knowledge of regulations and legislation affecting plan documents

  • Proven ability to communicate complex concepts to internal and external clients

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

  • ASPPA, NIPA, or ERPA credentials preferred

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to effectively interact with business managers, support staff, and other document team members

  • Ability to perform work independently with minimal supervision and to exercise sound, independent judgment, and discretion

  • Demonstrates ability to fulfill designated responsibilities

  • Proficiency in MS Office products such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and other typical business software applications

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies

Travel Requirements

  • Travel required to ftwilliam.com office(s), if located remotely

  • Travel required to leading industry conferences nationally to represent ftwilliam.com

Adequate and appropriate home office environment if located remote from general offices

Physical Demands

Normal office environment.

Compensation:

Target salary range CA, CT, CO, HI, NY, WA: $112,000-$156,650
