Summary:

  • Nursing Clinical Implementation Specialist will provide leadership in the implementation and integration of evidence-based practice into the clinical information systems at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC). They will utilize clinical expertise and knowledge of patient care, operational processes and information systems to effectively support the design, development, implementation and evaluation of patient care documentation within the electronic health record. The Specialist is responsible for the ongoing assessment and development of improved processes and sustainment strategies for the quality and safety of clinical processes for the improvement of patient care and outcomes. Utilization of knowledge transformation via information acquisition and distribution for practice adoption and education alignment. The Specialist takes a leadership role in clinical transformation by maximizing the benefits of information systems across the health system. The specialist will support multi-disciplinary teams to improve, streamline and standardize workflow and delivery systems with the goal of reducing variations in practice across PPMC and the health system. The Specialist will implement various technologies and innovations to support patient care. The Specialist will also lead and direct education regarding clinical implementations, working closely with clinical practice leads and nursing professional development specialists. This position partners with the clinical informatics team. The Nursing Clinical Implementation Specialist reports to the Director of Nursing Clinical Information Systems

Responsibilities:

Ethical Decision-Making, Moral Agency and Advocacy, Systems Analyst/Risk Anticipator Competency: Identify, articulate, and take action on ethical concerns at the patient, family, health care provider, system, political, community, social, economic and public policy levels. Participates in systems review to critically evaluate and anticipate risks to client safety to improve quality of client care delivery. Presents healthcare issues through appropriate channels to facilitate change. Works with quality improvement teams as needed. Presents and disseminates information to appropriate personnel.Professionalism: The nurse demonstrates a commitment to the nursing profession through life-long learning, adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, participation in a professional organization and advancing community outreach. Thought leader in the recommendation and prioritization of clinical IS solutions and knowledge engineerProject Management Skills and Follow Through:Excellent project management skills and ability to demonstrate follow through. Working knowledge of safety principles, theory of quality improvement and regulatory policies.Communication, Presentation, and Educational Skills:Excellent written and verbal skills. Facilitate education programs for clinicians in the use of technology and /or system enhancements. Able to utilize and leverage current and emerging technologies as resources and teaching tools.Lead Organizational ChangeCurrent knowledge of change management principles to drive thinking beyond current models (eg, Unfreeze, Change, Refreeze). Current knowledge of public policy initiatives (Meaningful Use) with the ability to bridge new care delivery models into clinical practice with the right technology. Innovative change agent. Monitor, report, and support change outcomes in various health system and leadership settings.TechnologiesAble to embrace current and future technologies and innovations. Able to communicate usage and create workflows for future technological innovations. Seeks additional opportunities in technology and innovation.

Credentials:

  • Registered Nurse - PA (Required)

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)

  • Master of Arts or Science

  • Education Specialization:Nursing, MBA, or Related FieldEquivalent Experience:•1+ years Previous informatics education or experience preferred.
