The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Instructor position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Radiation Oncology. Applicants must have an M.D. degree and must be Board Eligible in Radiation Oncology. Applicants must have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education, research, and clinical care.

Responsibilities may include include training activities in delivery of clinical care, clinical research, assisting with clinical trials, continuing proton training, and additional duties as assigned.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to gain additional experience and specific expertise in a wide variety of radiation therapy modalities, including protons in particular. The candidate will also have the opportunity to further gain independence in his/her chosen research field through activities such as supporting clinical trials and preparation of research grants, reports, abstracts, and peer-reviewed publications.

Penn Radiation Oncology is dedicated to a three-part mission of excellence in patient care, basic and translational research, and the education of residents and medical students. Penn Medicine delivers a broad range of radiation therapy services to its patients, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy, partial breast irradiation, and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS/SBRT using Gamma Knife /Cyberknife/Varian Linac). Patients will also have access to proton therapy at the Roberts Proton Therapy Center, housing the largest proton therapy facility in the USA, comprising four gantry treatment rooms and one fixed beam room.
