Instructional Technologist (Temporary)

Job Description Summary

Penn Engineering Online is seeking to add a temporary Instructional Technologist to its team. In addition to providing troubleshooting support, technology consultations, and training for all program stakeholders, this position will be directly responsible for a portfolio of approximately 3-4 courses. On a weekly basis, this position will work 40 hours. Evening and weekend support during exam periods will sometimes be required. This position will be joining a fast-paced, agile team in a growing and dynamic program.

Job Description

  • Provide technology and customer support for stakeholders across the program, including students, staff, faculty, and TAs.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of approximately 3-4 courses, and assist in supporting technology and logistical requests.

  • Develop training materials and documentation, perform testing, develop workarounds, and support vendor relationships.

  • Lead or contribute to projects for improving teaching technology and service delivery such as technology pilots, data analysis, and product reviews.

  • Support the hiring, onboarding, and supervision of large teams of TAs.

  • Candidates must be willing and able to occasionally work hours on in the evening and on weekends

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s in a related field preferred

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience, preferably in higher education

  • Demonstrated experience managing or facilitating large online courses or working on or with teaching teams

  • Some programming experience in Python and/or Java (preferred)

  • Expertise with administrating LMSs (Canvas, Coursera, EdX), LTI integrations, and associated instructional technologies

  • Strong customer service skills, positive attitude, and attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working in a highly collaborative team environment

Pay Range
