Description

Innovative, technology company seeks a Director of Accounting. The Director of Accounting will be responsible for overseeing: the financial reporting process, performing the monthly/quarterly/annually financial statement close process, assisting with tax related inquiries, researching accounting issues/inquiries/updates, maintaining general accounting functions, consolidations, preparing documentation for external audits, cost-reduction, implementation and development of new procedures, and department training. This candidate will ensure accurate and timely processing of the month end close process in addition to year-end auditing.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Oversee the monthly and quarterly closing processes for general ledger accounts.

• Prepare and analyze financial statements.

• Conduct account reconciliation analysis, review journal entries, and ensure accounting classifications comply with U.S. GAAP.

• Aid in the development and upkeep of the internal control structure, ensuring adherence to established controls.

• Support Corporate Finance with all aspects of technical accounting and disclosures, including the research and drafting of technical accounting memos.

• Provide assistance during internal and external financial audits.

  Requirements

The ideal Director of Accounting will have a Bachelors degree in Accounting. CPA and Big 4 experience strongly preferred.

Other requirements for the Director of Accounting role include and are not limited to:

• 12+ years of progressive experience in accounting with cost accounting focus

• Biopharmaceutical industry preferred

• In-depth cost accounting knowledge and experience

• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial accounting

• Experience operating within a Sarbanes-Oxley controlled environment.

• NetSuite experience preferred

• Strong forecasting & analytical skills
