Job Description

The Comcast Cooperative Educational Program (Co-op) immerses students into the daily operations of a contemporary media and technology company while working side-by-side with Comcast’s top innovators. Designed for students whose curriculum allows for a cooperative learning track, the co-op becomes an integral part of the Comcast team working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units. Throughout the experience, there is opportunity for exposure to mentorship and professional development while having some fun along the way.

Comcast Business UC Product Engineering team is a small, fast-moving team of professionals that partners with different teams internally. We develop application that customer interacts and solve complex network issues using machine learning to support Comcast Business Services customers. As a Software Developer and Data Engineer Co-op in Commercial Communications Engineering (CCE) team, you will have the opportunity to learn and work with latest technology trends with Cloud native solutions to build applications to integrate communication network services to web based application, and to build high volume data pipeline to ingest, collect and report.

Co-op will work with Developers, DevOps and Data Scientist in bridging applications and tools to ingest data, parse and collect data to supply for machine learning. We are a diverse team of engineers, IT, and visionary personnel who solve complex business problems while supporting our colleagues. We develop various model based on each network and application problems, and proactively provide insights and potential triggers for widespread customer issues.

In your role, you will have unique opportunity to work with cloud native platform development team, data engineers and data scientists. You will get to know how each application interact and develop interface or extract data using opensource tools, collect high volume files and parse it that can will be readable for machine learning algorithms.

Co-op responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop new or enhance software applications, data pipelines, and reports/dashboards.

  • Conceptualizing and generating infrastructure that allows big data to be accessed and analyzed.

  • Reformulating existing frameworks to optimize their functioning.

  • Testing such structures to ensure that they are fit for use.

  • Preparing raw data for manipulation by data scientists.

  • Detecting and correcting errors in your work.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Must have core skill sets or experience in software development in a Cloud native environment, preferably in Gola ng, Python and SQL .

  • Familiarity with Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, ELK, Jupyter notebook, DevOps methodologies is advantageous .

  • Unix/Linux basics & Shell Scripting

  • Good knowledge of Git.

  • Preferred Majors: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Information Science

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University, with a cooperative learning track .

  • Available to work 40 hours per week for 6 months starting September 23 , 2024 through March 28, 2025 .

  • Available to report in-person to the work location provided above.

Salary:

Base Pay: $32.00
