Women's Resource Center of Northern Michigan, Inc. Advocate in Petoskey, Michigan

Women's Resource Center of Northern Michigan{target="_blank" rel="noopener"} (WRCNM) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Advocate to join our team. The Advocate will work closely with survivors of domestic abuse, dating abuse, sexual assault, and stalking to provide one-on-one advocacy, crisis intervention, support, and court accompaniment. The Advocate will primarily work with those who are engaging with the civil legal systems and/or working with Legal Services of Northern Michigan or Child and Family Services of Northern Michigan's Safe Haven Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange program. This role will also involve conducting safety risk evaluations and attending Office on Violence Against Women Justice for Families collaborative meetings. The position will also provide support and advocacy to survivors of domestic abuse, dating abuse, and sexual assault as assigned by the program director.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, professional experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of issues related to domestic abuse, dating abuse, sexual assault, and stalking.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Compassionate and nonjudgmental approach to working with survivors.
