Job Title: NPI Readiness Team Lead

Salary: £59,952 - £65,000 (depending on experience)

Location : Peterborough

About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Opportunity

The Industrial Power Systems Division currently has an opening for an NPI Readiness Lead position located in Peterborough, UK. This position will support both Caterpillar and Perkins brands across all product lines within the Industrial Power Systems Division. This role will be accountable for developing, communicating, and ensuring the proper execution of the global product support readiness strategy for multiple concurrent New Production Introduction (NPI) programs.

This opportunity is ideal for a candidate looking for leadership experience without having direct reports. This role provides the opportunity for someone wishing to continue to develop their leadership skills.

What You Will Do:

  • Influencing project deliverables, by motivating and developing project team and team members.

  • Coordinating across multiple business teams to identify NPI programme needs, develop a project plan and lead governance meetings for each deliverable within the project.

  • Develop product support readiness plans and strategies, while communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas.

  • Providing distributor readiness updates for critical NPI programmes to manage customer expectations and deliver.

  • Lead NPI product support programs to ensure deliverables are met, ensuring dealer and distributor readiness. Deliverables will include technical publications, training plans, tooling development and validation, parts stocking, serviceability, and territory readiness.

  • Delivering NPI project results using analytical tools, lean process improvement and customer-first methodology

  • Measure dealer/ distributor readiness and support field teams on developing action plans to support NPI readiness.

What You Have:

  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.

  • Products and Services: Knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.

  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Customer Service Management: Knowledge of customer service priorities and ability to utilize tools and techniques for maintaining an environment where all understand, and are committed to providing excellent service to internal and external customers.

  • Program Management: Knowledge of the policies and techniques to manage a set of related projects within a program; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control the set of projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve program objectives.

Top candidates will ideally have built their skills within product and process management environments, demonstrating a strong understanding of project management and the NPI cycle.

Additional Information:

We operate a hybrid working week consisting of three days in the office and two from home.
