Job Title: Accountant - Cost

Salary: £39,000 - £44,000 (depending on experience)

Location : Peterborough - Office presence required 3 days per week.

About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. The Opportunity

This Accountant role is responsible for analysis and reporting of variable burden and labour and period (fixed costs), to deliver financial insight into the Operations Teams. As part of this you will also generate additional supporting analysis for variable labour & burden costs per unit.

Supporting the Business Resources team in the generation of both short term analysis through to long term strategic financial forecasts (5 Year Plan). You will partner business Operations and other Business Resource teams to provide assumptions and data for analysis. This role requires an overall understanding of the different P&L lines to ensure reasonableness of outputs from teams, utilising various feeds from different teams and systems.

The role will benefit from someone with good organisation skills and team work to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. You will have the opportunity to over the next year support the improvement and efficiency of our internal processes. Work is supported by a supervisor and will be reviewed primarily through the specific financial analyses generated to meet the requirements of the IPSD Management Team.

What You Will Do:

  • Support the analysis and reporting of monthly variable labour and burden and period (fixed) costs, providing insight

  • Business partner with Operations teams and Order to Delivery group

  • Support the completion of the annual 5 Year business plan

  • Development of our current processes and reporting cascade as we progress our digitalisation journey.

  • Adhoc project work

What Skills You Have:

  • Financial Analysis - ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.

  • Financial Reporting - Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports

  • Managing Multiple Priorities - ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation

  • Effective Communications - ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviours

Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

  • Professional Certification (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)

  • Previous Financial Planning & Accounting experience

  • Experienced user of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint

  • Experience of data analytics and visualisation tools such as MS PowerBI, MS PowerApps or Alteryx

  • Experience of accounting within a manufacturing environment

Additional Information:

We operate a hybrid working week consisting of three days in the office and two from home.
