Summary This vacancy is for a GS - 1701 - 11, CDC Director located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, TRACEN PETALUMA CG MORALE WELFARE AND RECREATION BRANCH. . Responsibilities You will serve as a CDC Director and be responsible for the overall management of a Coast Guard child development center and function as the focal point for the child development services and family childcare programs. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Developing and implementing programs for childcare services provided at the unit and developing local childcare policies for command approval. Preparing staff, center facility, program, and parents for National Association for the Educaton of Young Children Accrediattion. Preparing an annual budget and funding request reflecting local child development and family childcare program needs and resources. Developing and overseeing annual program objectives and age-appropriate child development curricula and activities. Preparing requests for program data for transmittal to the program manager. This is a supervisory position, under provisions of the Civil Service Reform Act, first time supervisors and/or managers will be required to serve a one-year probationary period. Qualifications EDUCATION: To be qualified applicants must meet the Basic Requirements of the position: Basic Requirements: Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position such as child development or early childhood education. OR Combination of education and experience--courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. In addition to the above, at the GS-11 level applicants must also meet the following: Have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level (in federal service); Some examples of specialized experience are: Managing the operation of a childcare center Developing and implementing programs for center-based childcare services Preparing an annual budget and funding request Ensuring daily inspections are made to assure compliance with health, safety, fire, facility, and program requirements Preparing requests for program data for transmittal to the program manager. OR 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree Recruitment Incentive Selectee(s) for this position who are newly appointed to a permanent position are authorized to receive a one-time recruitment incentive of 25% of the salary, including locality for this position. Receipt of the bonus will require a 12-month service agreement. Student Loan: Selectee(s) for this position who are newly appointed to a permanent or term position may be eligible for student loan repayment up to $10,000 (pre-tax) for one calendar year. More than one loan may be repaid if the combined repayments do not exceed $10,000. Receipt of this incentive will require a three-year service agreement.
