Project Summary:

Bechtel has been engaged to undertake a Feasibility Study through to EPCM construction and commissioning by one of our key clients. This Project involves greenfields and brownfields developments including earthworks through challenging terrain, construction of new crushing facilities and transmission line installations.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will manage project procurement personnel in all functional departments of purchasing, expediting, supplier quality, field procurement, traffic and logistics, materials management system, or procurement initiatives for a project.

Participating with the project management team, you will define and develop the scope of work, define opportunities and provide regional, local and industry knowledge, and in preparing and coordinating procurement plans and strategies, procedures, schedules, estimates, forecasts, and budgets.

You will ensure procurement operations comply with corporate, business unit and project requirements.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manages and monitors Procurement operations for assigned global business unit, its offices, and jobsites. Maintains communication with the global business unit and client personnel through regular visits to each assigned office, project team, and jobsite to ensure that the services of Procurement meet the needs of the global business unit and its clients.

  • Participates with the project team on a large project in defining and developing the scope of Procurement work, and in preparing and coordinating Procurement plans, procedures, schedules, estimates, forecasts, and budgets.

  • Contributes Procurement input to the preparation and/or modifications of the project’s prime contract.

  • Prepares and/or directs preparation of commercial terms and conditions for use on all project purchase documents, ensuring that requirements of the prime contract are incorporated.

  • When assigned by the global business unit Manager of Supply Chain, prepares, coordinates, and submits Procurement input to business development proposals, soliciting input from global business unit and Corporate Procurement personnel as necessary.

  • Other responsibilities as designated.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.

  • Global experience in project procurement management.

  • Experience and thorough understanding of Procurement operations at both office and at jobsite locations.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Skilled in managing personnel including interviewing, hiring, training, development, performance evaluation, career counselling, salary administration, and knowledge of personnel procedures and policy.

  • Thorough knowledge of planning, scheduling, cost control, and quality control functions.

  • Specialised training courses in supply chain management, business law, finance and accounting, and related business subjects.

  • Experience in working with the other functional service organisation, i.e., purchasing, supplier quality, traffic and logistics, and field procurement operations.
