SEMO Tank (owned by Dairy Farmers of America) sells, leases, and repairs tank trailers and offers a vast inventory of related parts for resale.
This role oversees the purchasing, shipping, receiving, and distribution of parts and supplies while managing inventory control throughout the organization. Partners with the Accounting/Finance Group to administer inventory and procurement policies.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the purchasing team, ensuring SEMO’s product offerings are competitive both in scope and price
Oversee the warehouse shipping and receiving team, ensuring incoming inventory and supply orders and outgoing customer orders are processed timely and accurately
Work alongside direct reports as a coach and partner to effectively manage job performance. Communicate company and cascading goals and assist direct reports in establishing goals that align with department and company objectives. Provide on-going performance feedback and conduct performance conversations. Hold direct reports accountable for results and work with them to cultivate their capabilities and utilize their strengths
Work in conjunction with SEMO’s Parts Manager and Accounting/Finance Group to administer DFA’s Physical Inventory Policy
Work in conjunction with SEMO’s Parts Manager and Accounting/Finance Group to administer DFA’s Procurement Policy
Work in conjunction with SEMO’s Parts Manager to manage initiatives to prevent surplus and obsolete stock
Maintain accurate and sufficient inventory levels
Procure parts that are typically more difficult to identify or locate
Implement and maintain procedures at all SEMO locations that mitigate inventory loss and improve inventory control, and periodically travel to the affiliate locations to ensure implementation and compliance of these procedures
Implement and maintain best practices for the purchasing team
Perform inventory cycle counts, identify discrepancies, and ensure the corresponding inventory adjustments are completed in the ERP system
Collaborate with accounting personnel to plan the year-end inventory count and oversee the physical count process
Review SEMO shop work orders to ensure all required parts and supplies are in stock and/or on order so that repair jobs can be completed without delay
Pre-pull/stage parts as called out on the work orders and assist shop personnel with any additional parts and/or application needs
Work with the Sales and Repairs Managers on scheduling/inventory requirements of after-market trailer modifications (i.e. pump packages, CIP washer systems, etc.) and/or repairs that must be completed by SEMO’s shops on equipment purchases prior to customer delivery
Perform price and contract negotiations with vendors as needed
Enter all material requisitioned to and used on jobs in the shop into SEMO’s ERP system
Assist in the implementation and become a power user in SEMO’s ERP system
Create build orders for items fabricated in-house
Oversee returns and warranty claims of parts
Determine best methods of shipment
Submit shipping claims with carriers
Audit shipping invoices for accuracy
Attend departmental training, such as safety and equipment training
Wear required PPE and observe health, safety, and environmental policies

Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required
4+ years of related experience with demonstrated leadership attributes
Supervisory experience preferred
Certification and/or license – N/A
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
Must have effective problem analysis and problem resolution at both the strategic and functional levels
Must have a strong sense of urgency in achieving objectives, with a high energy level and strong bias towards action and the ability to inspire others to meet goals and objectives
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office with the aptitude to quickly learn other software and ERP systems
Must be attentive to detail
Must be motivated
Must be able to read, write and speak English
Travel: 15% - 25% (1 - 2 times per quarter)
