Bongards' Creameries Plant Controller in Perham, Minnesota

Description Job Summary: Bongards' Creameries is seeking a Plant Controller based out of our Perham, MN facility. The Plant Controller supports all financial aspects of the manufacturing plant including all cost accounting, AP, AR, and general ledger activities. This position will focus on interpreting results, making recommendations, understanding overall business needs, at the same time emphasizing change management with a strategic orientation. Duties and Responsibilities: Supervise, review, and interpret month/quarter/year-end financial reports, as well as, month-end close processes to support the plant and corporate Review monthly plant financial reports for accuracy and interpret final results for plant management. Manage the month-end close process for the plant and coordinate with corporate. Direct and control all accounting activities associated with the accurate recording and reporting of costs of manufacturing for individual products and performance (cost and profitability) on a product line basis Analyze and interpret operating and financial results to identify trends and activities driving those results and make recommendations on potential changes, both operation and financial in nature, to improve performance Develop cost data for the justification of capital asset purchases as they relate to operation's cost savings. Assist in the audit process of capital purchases and prepare reports regarding the results of capital projects Manage the annual plant budget in coordination with the corporate budget, and provide financial comparisons and explanations of actual results to budget. Manage inventory and reconciliations, annual inventory counts with auditors Manage and mentor office staff to ensure timely closure of production jobs in the system, accurate/shipping of goods, etc Weekly and monthly operations reports (KPI, yields, recoveries) Actively participate in cost savings initiatives Other duties as assigned Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required, or the equivalent of ten years of progressive operational accounting experience. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Master's degree strongly preferred 5+ years management experience in manufacturing preferred Advanced Excel Skills Ability to effectively manage a manufacturing finance organization Ability to develop policies and procedures to meet government and internal needs Must possess a high level of integrity Strong communication and organizational skills to effectively interact with all levels of management Ability to develop the capabilities of others and the organization Demonstrates an ability to manage a variety of priorities while meeting deadlines Ability to work independently on assigned duties Understanding of managing variances associated with manufacturing environment (variance analysis, LCM, E&O, etc.) ) Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities The contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
