DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will plan, organize, and oversee recreational and psychosocial activities for residents in nursing, personal, and domiciliary care units. You will direct therapeutic recreational programs for both individual and group settings, accommodating both ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents. Responsibilities include arranging and attending outdoor trips, sports events, theatrical performances, and other community activities. Upon admission, you will conduct an interview and assessment of residents to identify their interests and abilities. Additionally, you will complete evaluations and develop short- and long-term goals to create programs tailored to residents’ needs. Supervisory duties will include scheduling and assigning tasks, evaluating performance, approving leave requests, and managing overall performance.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a flexible schedule and a 30-minute lunch.
Evenings and weekends are required as needed.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience as a Therapeutic Activities Worker (commonwealth title);or
Two years of professional experience providing therapeutic activities for individuals with physical, medical, or cognitive disabilities; and a bachelor’s degree with major coursework in therapeutic recreation; physical education; vocational rehabilitation; vocational education or counseling; art, music, dance, or occupational therapies; or a related human services field;or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
At the time of application, y ou must possess active certification as an A ctivity Director Certified (ADC) or Activity Consultant Certified (ACC) as issued by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP); or valid certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) as issued by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
