THE POSITION

The Department of Environmental Protection is seeking a highly motivated individual who is dedicated to protecting the health and safety of Pennsylvania's citizens and environment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Interstate Water Resources Management division delivers planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of statewide policy and program activities to promote interagency and interstate cooperation of shared water and coastal resource issues.

In this position, as a Water Program Specialist in the Special Projects Section, your days will involve work related to River Basin Commission (RBC) coordination and intra/interstate programs. You will facilitate and coordinate the RBC’s efforts with those of similar functions performed by the state and vice versa. This position provides programmatic support for activities in intrastate and interstate water management, interbureau coordination, program evaluation, and resource management. Additionally, being in this role will require direct interaction with the Division Manager as well as other state, interstate, and federal entities, and various stakeholder groups.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

  • Travel required when necessary.

  • Telework: You will have the opportunity to work from home (telework), part-time up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg .

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of professional environmental protection experience; and a bachelor’s degree in the biological, physical, or environmental sciences, engineering, or in a field closely related to environmental protection or regulation; or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years of professional environmental protection experience.

    Conditions of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license.
