DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position performs various tasks in the repair and maintenance of buildings, grounds, machinery, and equipment. Duties include mowing grass, trimming trees and shrubbery, raking leaves, mulching, seeding grass areas as necessary, planting and caring for flower beds, and fertilizing the lawn. You are also responsible for keeping these areas clear of trash and debris such as weeds and dead branches. Equipment used to perform your tasks includes lawn tractors, push mowers, hedge trimmers, snowplows, and various other pieces of equipment and machinery. In addition, you perform maintenance on the equipment used and replace parts as needed.

Other duties include performing masonry work, assisting in carpentry functions, assisting with plumbing functions, painting, and replacing light bulbs, switches, and shades.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week

  • Work hours are 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

  • Evenings and weekends assigned as needed

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades ;or

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities .

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

    Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Work experience in masonry, carpentry, plumbing, or other trade.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.

  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
