THE POSITION

We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic individuals to join our dental team in the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Houtzdale. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Dental Assistant for the Department of Corrections, you will work with our experienced Dentists providing basic dental services in a compassionate and professional manner to our inmate population. In this role, you will be assisting a Dentist during the examination and treatment of patients. You will have the opportunity to schedule appointments, manage daily patient flow, and maintain dental records. In addition to providing chair side assistance, work will include maintaining dental office equipment and performing dental laboratory procedures.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $35,306.00(before taxes).
This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience in a dental office or clinic;or
Successful completion of an accredited Dental Assisting certificate program;or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
All candidates must have completed the Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) Exam as required by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
