How you make a difference

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Purchasing Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical role in managing the purchasing processes while supporting our accounting operations.

The Staff Accountant assists the Business Manager in ensuring the accounting functions (which may include accounts payable and payroll) are completed accurately and timely. Responsible for processing all vendor invoices in accordance with company policy and procedures. The Staff Accountant in this role will be responsible for processing purchase requisitions, conducting monthly physical inventory of the Pharmacy and annual DCF fixed assets inventory, maintaining the monthly medical claims accrual log, and record keeping of all the hospital’s vehicles expenses. Assists with the month-end closing process and submits financial reports in a timely manner. This role may also be responsible for the processing of payroll including weekly data entry, bi-weekly reconciliation, summaries of hours, sick and vacation balances, in accordance with the policies and procedures. This position may help coordinate contract reporting and monitor compliance with contract terms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process purchase requisitions accurately and efficiently.

  • Maintain recording and control procedures for accounts, including collection, evaluation, processing, preparation, submission, and reconciliation.

  • Review invoices for accuracy, match them to purchase orders (POs), generate proper authorization and approval in a timely manner

  • Prepare the weekly census report and other reporting as directed.

  • Conduct monthly physical inventory.

  • Assist in month-end closing and annual budget preparation.

  • Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information, and respond to payroll inquiries promptly and courteously.

  • Facilitate new vendor setup and updates, assist the Business Manager with financial data research and compilation, and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • Required: Two (2) years’ experience in a payroll or accounts payable role. Purchase requisition processing and general accounting preferably in a healthcare environment.

  • Great Plains and Quickbooks experience preferred.

  • Required: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
