Actalent Dental Assistant in Peekskill, New York

Description:

Seeking a Dental Assistant to join the team at a non-profit organization caring for your local community. This organization provides the highest quality of comprehensive primary, preventative and behavioral health services to all who see it, regardless of insurance status and ability to pay, especially for the underserved and vulnerable. You'll be joining a team that fosters a caring and respectful environment for all employees and patients.

Dental Assistant will assist the dental team in providing quality oral healthcare services to our patients.

Essential Duties:

Patient Care:

o Prepare patients for dental procedures by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping them.

o Assist the dentist during dental procedures by handing instruments and materials, operating suction devices, and retracting tissues and oral structures.

Sterilization and Maintenance:

o Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment.

o Maintain dental equipment and ensure that it is in proper working order.

o Prepare treatment rooms for patient care.

Radiography:

o Take and develop dental X-rays.

o Ensure radiation safety measures are followed during X-ray procedures.

Record Keeping:

o Maintain and update patient records, including medical history and treatment plans.

o Schedule and confirm patient appointments.

o Process dental insurance claims and billing.

Patient Education:

o Provide patients with instructions on dental hygiene and post-operative care.

o Educate patients on the importance of oral health and preventive dental care.

Administrative Duties:

o Perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records.

o Order and maintain dental supplies and inventory.

Assist with Anesthesia and Sedation:

o Prepare and administer local anesthetics and other medications as directed by the dentist.

o Monitor patients during dental procedures to ensure their safety and comfort.

Assist with Dental Lab Work:

o Prepare and pour dental impressions.

o Fabricate temporary crowns and dental appliances.

Infection Control:

o Follow proper infection control protocols to prevent the spread of diseases and ensure a safe and sanitary dental environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

High School Diploma

Dental Assistant License preferred

1+ years of experience working in a Dental Office without DA license
