Based in the Pearland, Texas area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position. This role's duties will require planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. This role's duties will require effectively managing self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, leading while also being a team player, generating innovative ideas, and challenging the status quo. Your responsibilities

  • Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

  • Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

  • Inspect deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties

  • Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection

  • Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis Requirements - BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

  • Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Strong communication skills and able to receive criticism well

  • Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus

  • Detailed and have the ability work independently

  • Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines

  • Exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

  • Proven knowledge of Sage Accounting Software

  • Strong familiarity with financial reporting

  • Inventory Accounting experience

  • Solid understanding of month end closings

  • Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) experience preferred

  • Command of CPA

  • Well-founded grasp of Standard Cost Accounting
