Commander, Navy Installations SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii

Summary You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the SAFETY DEPARTMENT of NAVAL STATION. A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 8.90% will be added to the stated salary. Responsibilities You will develop safety and occupational health presentations to increase personnel awareness and maintain a safe and healthy work environment. You will draft reports on mishap investigations resulting in damage to property, equipment, or occupational illness to personnel explaining identifies causes and preventative actions. You will coordinate long-term studies of unsafe work conditions with supervisors. You will perform risk assessments of hazardous processes and working conditions to determine hazard control techniques that minimize or eliminate unsafe and unhealthful operations. You will review mishap reports for accuracy and causal factors to institute corrective action and prevent recurrence. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing safety and occupational health instructions, guidelines or standard operating procedures; 2) Analyzing data on work operations, mishaps, and safety practices to prepare reports of findings that propose corrective measures for unsafe conditions and hazardous work practices; 3) Developing or conducting a safety education program through formal training sessions, guest lectures, and supervisor-employee discussions; Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management web site: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
