Commander, Navy Installations IT Specialist (DATAMGT/SYSADMIN) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii

Responsibilities You will develop and administer databases and/or data management systems that allow for the storage, query, and utilization of data in a clustered high availability environment. You will evaluate functional requirements and develop customer-oriented solutions. You will Maintain multiple database management system (DBMS) software packages used to manage and process locally developed systems, and provide the interfaces among online and batch, secure and unsecured, open and closed, and DBMS systems. You will monitor and analyze database use and operations, and adjust, update, or make minor or major modifications to the logical and physical structure. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for the GS-13 grade level your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying automated data system and database design methods, data system interfaces, database standards and technology, information systems analysis, and automated information system databases, software, and processing hardware to provide database and related advice, planning support and recommendations to leadership. 2) Applying and adapt new and improved approaches to the design, development, and implementation of data mining, data warehousing, and related data storage and retrieval systems. 3) Conducting independent comprehensive assessments of management, operational, and technical security controls and control enhancements employed within or inherited by a system to determine overall effectiveness. 4) Developing guidelines for applying data modeling practices to the development of data management applications and diagnosing and resolving the most complex data management problems and issues. And 5) Develops automation security concepts and measures and communications equipment requirements to support utilities for site preparation or system modifications. This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. This position is a designated Special-Sensitive position and requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret SCI National Security Clearance for the duration of employment which includes a Tier 5 background investigation and periodic reinvestigation every 7 years. Work Environment The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. Physical Demands The work is primarily sedentary. Some work may require walking and standing, and carrying light items, such as papers, books, or small parts. The work does not require any special physical effort.
