The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) team is focused on partnering with managers and employees to provide world-class human capital strategies, processes, and solutions and support the organization in developing and retaining the best talent in the world to explore the farthest reaches of space.

Responsibilities:

As an HRBP Intern, you will provide development, coordination, and support, to employees and managers, in the execution of talent development and support activities. Under the guidance of the HRBP, you will immerse yourself in JPL, get exposure to different HR disciplines, and learn how HR professionals partner with leaders and employees throughout the organization to achieve overall Lab objectives.

In your role, you might be asked to:

  • Support the delivery of HR resources and initiatives and assist with carrying out day-to-day HR operations and activities in the areas of workforce planning, talent management, learning and development, employee relations and compliance.

  • Address employee inquiries related to HR policies and procedures.

  • Work on assigned projects and assist with the execution of HR programs, such as the annual Talent Planning cycle.

  • Collaborate across the HRBP team and partner-HR teams, such as Talent Acquisition and AskHR.

  • Participate in meetings with leaders to understand the needs of the business and tailor the delivery of HR support to best support their goals.

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled at least half-time at an accredited local college or university pursuing a Master’s or Doctorate in Human Resources, Organizational Management, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, Organizational Leadership, or other major related to work assignment with a graduation date of December 2024 or later.

  • Must be available to work during the summer full-time (40 hours per week).

  • Must have at least 1 semester or quarter remaining to complete degree.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA 3.0 out of 4.0 or equivalent

  • General knowledge of applicable industry and/or academic practices and standards in Human Resources

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, problem solving and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to build and maintain highly effective working relationships.

  • Effectively handles confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and diplomacy.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to execute and complete assigned projects and tasks.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, analytic and assessment tools

  • Impeccable time management, and a self-starter who can work independently but also take direction when needed.

  • Experience working collaboratively and successfully with many teams.

  • Strong organization, planning, and project management skills.

The typical hourly rate for this job in Pasadena, California depending on education level is $32 in year 1, $34 in year 2, $36 in year 3, $38 in year 4
