Alexandria’s Science & Technology Team supports the Company by providing scientific and technical expertise to help guide three of Alexandria’s four core verticals: Real Estate, Venture Investments, and Thought Leadership.

Real Estate activities include performing diligence on and underwriting potential life science, agtech, and technology tenants, as well as monitoring existing tenants through the review of financials, scientific milestones, news and press releases, and meetings with management teams. Venture Investment activities, conducted through the Company’s strategic venture capital platform, Alexandria Venture Investments, help the Company discover and invest in innovative companies in life science, agtech, and technology and include associated responsibilities that span due diligence and in-depth reviews of potential investments, their therapeutic areas and respective competitive landscapes, and the strength and level of innovation of their technology platforms. Thought Leadership activities include preparing for and organizing Alexandria-led and community life science events that convene, accelerate, and enable the growth of life science activities in our innovation hubs.

We are seeking a Coordinator – Venture Operations, within our Science & Technology team, to support our venture investment operations and tenant monitoring process in our headquarters office in Pasadena. The highly skilled individual who fills this role will possess strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, and an ability to work independently. An ability to read and interpret financial statements is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Venture Operations Duties

Assist the operations of Alexandria Venture Investments (AVI), including by, but not limited to:

  • Creating, maintaining, and updating electronic folders and various charts and logs related to investment activities.

  • E-filing investment-related correspondence, reports, and statements.

  • Updating spreadsheets for tracking portfolio investments on an as-needed basis

  • Performing wire instruction verification callbacks.

  • Providing administrative support for internal processes.

  • Collaborating cross-functionally across the Science & Technology (S&T), Accounting, and Treasury Teams to support venture operations.

  • Assisting the AVI Team with special projects as needed.

Tenant Monitoring Duties

  • Request, e-file, and record receipt of financial statements from tenants.

  • Update tenant database with information related to tenant financial health.

  • Review financial statements as received and provide timely updates to manager and/or S&T team member(s) in each region

  • Maintain tenant contact information and update and manage records as needed.

  • Assist in the preparation of materials needed for monthly tenant financial health review calls.

  • Review lease documents and investor agreements for financial rights.

  • Monitor SEC website and Goldstar website for financial filings.

  • Create, maintain, and update our electronic folders for tenants.

  • E-file all communications and updates pertaining to tenant financial health.

General Administrative Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordinating and maintaining various charts, logs, schedules, and calendars.

  • Perform various e-filing and printing.

  • Work closely with VP – Investment Operations, AVI operations team, and other S&T members on various requests and projects.

  • Communicate with coworkers, management, portfolio companies, and others in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, safety rules, policies, work procedures, and instructions.

  • Maintain the highest level of communication and confidentiality.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 2+ years’ work experience required.

  • Ability to work on a fast-paced team, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels, including, but not limited to, headquarters and regional personnel, senior management, consultants, and third parties.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial statements.

  • Superb organizational skills with excellent attention to detail; must be able to maintain a high level of accuracy and to work diligently.

  • Strong team player who can also work independently.

  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.

  • Highly motivated, responsible, and resourceful.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience working with Salesforce a plus, but not required.

  • Must be able to work overtime, as deemed necessary.

  • The expected base salary range for this position is $70,000 USD to $90,000 USD annually, plus annual discretionary bonus. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the consideration of many factors, which may include, but are not limited to: the individual’s knowledge, experience, education, qualifications, skills, job location, and the Company’s compensation practices.
