Join our Critical Systems team and play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of sophisticated electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems that support our Head Ends and communication rooms. As a UPS Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the critical infrastructure that keeps our technology running smoothly. This includes overseeing UPS systems, power supply, generators, electrical distribution, and fire detection/suppression systems. Your role will also involve monitoring vendors and contractors to maintain a safe and stable work environment, as well as ensuring all critical infrastructure remains operational, both in daily use and during emergencies.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain UPS equipment, promptly responding to abnormal conditions.
- Collaborate on construction projects, coordinating with vendors and communicating with building tenants.
- Support the startup, commissioning, and integration of new UPS equipment and systems.
- Update and monitor the Building Maintenance System (BMS) to ensure optimal performance.
- Identify and address electrical issues effectively.
- Conduct weekly inspections of UPS equipment, proactively addressing any identified issues.
- Utilize infrared inspections to assess electrical equipment and identify deficiencies.
- Supervise and guide external vendors during maintenance and repair activities, evaluating their performance and contract execution.
- Ensure strict adherence to regulatory plans, policies, standards, and procedures, maintaining facility compliance.
- Participate in after-hours emergency response stand-by.
- Contribute to special projects and perform additional assigned duties.
- Associate's degree, trade school certification, other certified training in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with UPS equipment in an industrial, commercial, or data center environment.
- Availability for after-hours emergency response stand-by.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Possession of a clean and valid driver's license.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with excellent organizational abilities.
- General proficiency in office software applications.
- Willingness to adhere to safety equipment and protocols, ensuring a secure work environment while following Company and OSHA rules and regulations.
- Occasional physical tasks such as climbing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required, with occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 70 pounds.
