We are looking for a Analytical and Product Development Technician interested in starting a SWEET career as part of our Project Management Office at PIM’s Headquarters in Park Ridge, New Jersey on a Hybrid schedule. The Senior Project Manager role owns the delivery of innovation and continuous improvement from ideation to delivery. This critical business role plans, communicates, coordinates, and executes the entire life cycle of cross functional business imperatives. You will be on the front lines of delivering the brands people love!
The ideal candidate will have experience within a fast paced consumer-packaged goods (CPG) company environment and is well versed at interacting with and influencing multifunctional teams of internal and external stakeholders. You will be leading multiple projects simultaneously so the ability to organize and prioritize activities and helping others organize and prioritize will be important in being successful. Experience working in a stage gate oriented and deadline driven environment is also critical.
Relevant to analytical:
The individual will be responsible for performing laboratory work in support of analytical testing of confectionary products, and relevant experience with the following analytical methodologies: chromatography, dissolution will be desirable. Job responsibilities include analytical method development and validation; including presentation of data; critical review of data; preparation of technical reports; and evaluation of new instrumentation or analytical techniques.
Product development:
Applies scientific and engineering principles in research, development, production technology, packaging, processing and utilization of foods. Studies methods to improve the quality of the manufactured products, such as flavor, color, texture, convenience, or physical, chemical and microbiological composition of the manufactured product. Supports the development of product formulations, evaluation of new products and ingredients. Assists in the definition of process parameters, procedural specifications, shelf-life evaluations, coordinates pilot and manufacturing trials, documents trial results and coordinates product start-ups.
Tests new products in the laboratory and develops specific processing methods and interacts with the process engineer, QA/QC, production management, packaging and marketing leaders to resolve problems.
The candidate must be able to interact effectively with peers and leaders as part of a multi-disciplinary team and work in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and effective interpersonal and communication skills are required.
Perform qualitative analysis for confectionary products for presence of fat soluble and water-soluble vitamins.
Prepare samples for analysis.
Prepares chemical solutions following standard operating procedures and appropriate testing methods.
Data processing, documentation and reporting
Record data and results as specified in documentation procedures. Document work clearly and perform tests accurately.
Responsible for consumables ordering, sample storage and disposal, cleaning, and similar lab processes.
Perform maintenance and calibrations of laboratory instruments/equipment with supervisory direction/training as needed.
Perform troubleshooting and investigations under the direction of a supervisor.
Comply with all regulatory/in-house requirements (may include but not limited to safety, housekeeping, laboratory chemical waste, cGMP, cGLP, documentation) when performing the assigned activity.
Participate in proficiency testing program to ensure results reliability and new method development and validation projects.
Carry out verification and calibration on all laboratory equipment being used as per predetermined frequencies.
Perform the stability study for current bulk and finished products, analyze the data and create annual reports.
Develop product formulations and work on prototypes.
Product testing; physical, chemical, analytical, sensory and shelf-life testing.
Strong focus on delivery and results.
Preparation of SOP's for new products developed.
Evaluate and approve ingredients.
Test and define procedures and processing parameters.
Coordinate pilot plant trials and manufacturing scale up process.
Explore and test improvements in existing products.
Document technical information and prepare reports for trials.
Coordinate production start-up and assist in providing technical support.
Follow PIM Brands GMP rules
Act as a backup for Laboratory Technician.
Ability to work additional hours as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, food science or other related degree concentration, or equivalent directly related experience.
Experience with laboratory techniques such as HPLC/UPLC.
Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is required, and experience with Chromeleon/Empower /Chemstation and other laboratory software is preferred.
Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
Knowledge of Good Manufacture Practices, HACCP and SQF.
High degree of accuracy in performing lab analysis
Willing to be trained. Ability to read, speak, and write English is required
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.

HYBRID - The role requires working on-site: Monday thru Thursday. Work from home/remotely on Fridays
