Team Overview

Fund Controller – Alternatives Team in Paris has responsibility for all fund accounting matters on a variety of alternative funds including: credit, alternative fund of funds, renewable power and infrastructure debt products. We are accountable for change management, risk management and exception management on those funds. The fund administration is outsourced, so we manage a range external vendors to ensure the products are receiving the highest standard of service, ensuring accurate and timely production of valuations and maintenance of KPIs and MIS. We work with multiple partners across BlackRock to support the transition of products to Dublin, the launch of new products, closures, in-species and mergers of existing funds; as well as the day to day operations of the funds. We participate in client due diligences and support the product and sales and marketing teams with our accounting expertise. Given the growth in this asset class we are focused on achieving scale and efficiency.

Role Responsibilities

  • Providing operational and accounting support for all investments within the Alternatives platform. Assist in developing operating models to address support of manual or unusual aspects of new alternative products and investments

  • Provide on-going operational support for complex products or investment types, which includes reconciling data received from third parties and coordinating input of data into internal systems

  • Building strong relationships with various internal and external partners

  • Completing a detailed review of legal documents and policies and procedures to highlight operational impacts and ensure operational readiness

  • Collaborating with external providers and internal teams to ensure a robust and scalable operating model is in place both within BlackRock and in external providers

  • Oversee external and internal administration and accounting for certain mandates, including investment valuation, data management, and asset and cash reconciliations

  • Assist with preparation and review of client reporting and ensure deliverable deadlines are met

Experience

  • 3-5+ years of investment / fund accounting /public accounting (audit) work experience or equivalent, including review experience for at least a portion of that time.

  • Ability to understand financial concepts

  • Highly attentive, ability to focus, excellent follow-through, flexibility and stellar grammar and English skills.

  • Self-motivated, dedicated, able to change directions quickly, and capable of working well with strong personalities.

  • Capability of working in a fast paced, dynamic environment

  • Standout colleague with excellent interpersonal skills including ability to collaborate with a broad network of colleagues to help resolve issues

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - ability to interact and clearly communicate complex concepts to a wide variety of partners

  • Fluency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
