The Job

The Director, Practice for Manufacturing Engineering Systems (MES) is responsible for driving strategic direction and operational excellence across the MES business unit. This role leads a cross-functional team to ensure the achievement of orders, revenue, and margin targets by providing strategic direction to a cross-functional team covering Product Management, Marketing, Services, Support, Presales, and Sales. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills.

Responsibility

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the MES business strategy in alignment with overall company objectives

  • Collaborate with Product Management to define product roadmaps, licensing models, and strategic initiatives.

  • Collaborate with Product Managers to review and prioritize enhancement requests.

  • Provide regular updates to senior stakeholders, including Practice leadership and Business, Portfolio, and R&D leadership

  • Identify opportunities for cross-practice knowledge and resource sharing

Product and Technology Management

  • Ensure product features align with customer requirements, market demands and how the product is used in Customers’ environment.

  • Regular catch-up with the Product manager

  • Guide the development of new features, use cases, and enhancements

  • Participate in R&D showcases and RPEs to provide strategic input, clarification around features discussed.

  • Collaborate with R&D (Monthly) on program reviews and share business updates

Pre-Sales and Partner Enablement:

  • Ensure the pre-sales team, services team, system integrators (SIs), and partners possess the necessary product knowledge and competencies to secure new projects and deliver them successfully.

  • Develop and provide pre-sales enablement materials, including demo virtual machines (VMs), training sessions, demos, presentations, demo scripts, and new release training. This is a collaborative effort with the product manager and pre-sales team.

  • Create and distribute solution templates to streamline implementation processes.

  • Training Materials: Develop and provide comprehensive training materials, such as manuals, knowledge-sharing videos, and eLearning courses. This is a collaborative effort with the support team.

  • Partner & Channel Evaluation: Assist Partner and Channel Managers in evaluating potential partners and SIs to ensure alignment with business objectives.

  • Community of Practice (CoP) Meetings: Organize and lead monthly CoP meetings to facilitate knowledge sharing and generate new ideas within the team.

  • Continuously develop and implement new methods for sharing knowledge and skills across the organization.

Sales Enablement and Marketing Support:

  • Ensure the sales team is equipped with all necessary tools and information to effectively sell the product.

  • Opportunity Review: Regularly review opportunities in Salesforce and follow up with opportunity owners to accelerate the sales process and close deals more efficiently.

  • Sales Tools and Resources: Provide the sales team with up-to-date tools, resources, and training to enhance their product knowledge and sales capabilities.

Sales Enablement: Ensure the sales team is equipped with all necessary tools and information to effectively sell the product.

  • Marketing Support: Present and attend marketing events as needed. Review marketing materials for various channels (social media, newsletters, website).

Delivery and Support Excellence

  • Oversee delivery methodologies, harmonization and ensure practice guidelines are followed

  • Collaborate with Delivery leads to optimize project execution

  • Work with Product Support to address major defects and improve customer satisfaction

  • Identify opportunities for delivery templates and tools

  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with Quality leads to ensure adherence to practice guidelines.

Sales and Marketing Enablement

  • Oversee the development of pre-sales enablement materials and solution templates.

  • Contribute to Go-To-Market strategies and licensing approaches

  • Conduct sales enablement sessions and participate in key customer meetings

  • Support marketing initiatives through event participation and content review

Team Leadership and Talent Development:

As a people manager within the Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) practice, you will lead and develop a high-performing team by assigning responsibilities, setting goals, and conducting regular performance evaluations. You'll foster a culture of innovation, manage resources efficiently, and promote cross-functional collaboration. Your role is essential in attracting and developing top talent, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, and driving overall business success.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

  • 10+ years of experience in the MES or related manufacturing software industry

  • Experience managing cross-functional teams in a matrix organization

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, Industry 4.0 concepts, and digital transformation

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills

  • Global mindset with experience working in international business environments
