A Brief Overview
The Security Officer II assists in ensuring medical center safety and security during assigned shifts and during emergency situations. Conducts safety inspections, responds to code designated incidents and other emergencies. The Security Officer writes comprehensive reports detailing causes, actions and responses and is also responsible for investigating crimes and other incidents and submits related reports and recommendations. This person performs dispatch duties when necessary.

What you will do
Employees must abide by all the Joint Commission requirements including, but not limited to, sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patients’ rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings.
Conducts safety inspections, responds to code designated incidents and other emergencies. Ensures medical center safety and security during assigned shifts and during emergency situations.
Investigates crimes and other incidents and submits related reports and recommendations.
Report any observed hazards to the Security Operations Center for response, documentation and escalation.
Writes comprehensive reports detailing causes, actions and responses
Emergency Department Officer: This position will focus on providing security services to adult and/or pediatric emergency departments, including but not limited to security screening, visitor management, patient monitoring, and emergency response to safety incidents within the department.
Patrol Officer: This position will provide patrol responsibilities specific to a particular business unit and/or location.
C-I-CAREExecutes world class practices of service and patient care in support of C-I-CARE standards. Uses C-I-CARE templates and the following components for all communication with patients and staff:• CONNECT with people by calling them their proper name, or the name they prefer (Mr., Ms., Dr.)• INTRODUCE yourself and your role• COMMUNICATE what you are going to do, how long it will take, and how it will impact the patient• ASK permission before entering a room, examining a patient or undertaking an activity• RESPOND to patient’s questions or requests promptly; anticipate patient needs
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
Experience Qualifications
Two (2) years of experience of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
Non-violent Crisis Intervention or comparable certification approved by the SHC Security Program must be obtained within 30 days of hire
Successfully pass the following training within the first 6 months of hire1. De-escalation2. CPI3. Patient rights and holding4. Psychiatric Security Training5. Handcuffing
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to adapt to and deal with change and ambiguity
Ability to generate ideas, consult with departments, and coordinate administrative solutions to alleviate security problems
Ability to observe and recall names, places and incidents, read and understand laws, ordinances, departmental rules and policies

Ability to solve problems and identify solutions
Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job
Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment

Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area
Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility
Knowledge of police/law enforcement procedures and techniques
Licenses and Certifications
CADL - California Drivers License - Valid And In State
SGRC - Security Guard Registration Card required within 90 Days or
PPSO - California Proprietary Private Security Officer License required within 90 Days

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $28.49 - $32.07 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
