A Brief Overview

The Equipment Technician has overall responsibility for the maintenance and supply of equipment in the area in which they support. Coordinates and acts as a liaison between several different hospital departments and service lines to ensure equipment, supplies, and environmental needs are met. Ensure that the patient care environment and bedside carts are adequately stocked with unit specific supplies and equipment. Coordinates equipment maintenance and supply with hospital technician assigned to the area(s) of responsibility.

What you will do

  • Coordinates routine equipment maintenance and inspection schedules with Hospital Technician.

  • Coordination and monitoring of loaned, borrowed, and equipment out for repair.

  • Effectively maintains appropriate quality improvement and control programs in response to staff and patient feedback, internal standards of care and external requirements.

  • Maintains a professional work environment: keeps work area clean and organized. Practices good time management.

  • Manages equipment storage and maintenance including removing broken equipment and expediting repairs when necessary.

  • Monitors and recommends changes to policies and procedures for the operations and activities of the Supply

  • Distribution systems ensuring compliance with applicable requirements of Federal, State and any other regulatory agencies.

  • Monitors methods and procedures for ordering, receiving, issuing, quality control, charge collection and reconciliations of inventory

  • Recommends space and other resources needed by the department to meet patient, departmental and staff needs.

  • Responsible for self-assessment and personal professional development of new skills or clinical knowledge to maintain current with position.

  • Responsible for the implementation and management of new equipment, projects, methods, procedures and systems.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Experience Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent client relationship, exhibit exemplary interpersonal skills and exercise sound judgment and professionalism in business and personnel matters

  • Ability to solve problems and identify solutions

  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area

  • Knowledge of decontamination and sterilizing techniques and principles and of medical supplies and their use

  • Knowledge of medical supplies and their care and use

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $33.14 - $37.30 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
