City National Bank Manager Commercial Banking - Technology Banking Sector in Palo Alto, California

MANAGER TECHNOLOGY BANKING

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Technology Banking Manager is responsible for the development and expansion of the company's broad Technology business. This executive will work collaboratively with the line units to provide them a deeper understanding of the Technology environment and focus on helping them grow the Bank's market share in the sector for each line of business. This individual will support the Technology segment business, products, and sales through presentations to potential markets, colleagues, and senior/executive management. The Technology Banking Manager will collaborate on business development activities with relationship managers and team members in order to acquire new Technology-oriented business and strengthen existing Technology industry client relationships.

What you will do

  • Responsible for the expansion and growth of the existing portfolio of technology companies and individuals.

  • Provide advice, counsel, and training to CNB bankers on technology related opportunities, strategies, and transactions in the Commercial and Core Banking Services, PCS/Wealth Management, Treasury Management, Corporate Banking, and Entertainment areas.

  • Act as the “Technology expert” who effectively represents the bank to potential new clients and those who can refer new clients.

  • Develop business with select technology and technology related businesses and individuals, managing and growing these relationships.

  • Create and maintain a high profile for CNB in the venture capital and technology communities resulting in a robust referral network into established businesses and individuals.

  • In conjunction with the Tech Council executives, line and support representatives and Marketing & Product Strategies develop a marketing plan to raise awareness and market to target technology and technology-related companies and high net worth individuals.

  • Continually assess the product needs of clients and prospects as well as the service capabilities of CNB to ensure that a competitive advantage is maintained with targeted tech companies and individuals.

  • Actively participate in the Technology community, including leadership roles in associations, conferences and technology forums.

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

  • Minimum 8 year’s commercial banking experience focused in theTechnology industry

  • Minimum 5 year credit experience

  • Ten years of progressively increasing Commercial and Industrial loan underwriting experience

  • Five years of management experience in underwriting or credit management

  • Five years structuring credit and managing large complex credit transactions for companies with greater than $20 million in revenue

  • Five years of credit staff management or supervisory experience

Skills and Knowledge

  • BA or MBA (preferred)

  • Solid understanding of and broad exposure to the Technology market.

  • Solid grasp of Technology industry from well established businesses to start-up and leading edge technologies.

  • Excellent credit and analytical skills necessary to understand Technology businesses and financial needs.

  • Ability to relate to and communicate with Technology experts, understanding their businesses and banking/financial needs.

  • Ability to inspire confidence by understanding and articulating the specialized needs of business and individuals in the Technology sector.

  • Proven ability to develop strong business partnerships with clients and prospects.

  • Proven ability to develop strong partnerships to achieve organizational goals.

  • Very sound business judgment

Compensation

Starting base salary: $157,943 - $293,299 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
