Planate Management Group LLC Engineering Technician (Palo Alto, CA) in Palo Alto, California

Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies.

The Engineering Technician represents Planate to our clients by providing information and reports, as required. This position is responsible for monitoring contract compliance of contractors in the completion of construction work and project schedule on behalf of the facility owner for multiple projects, and reports on key issues to the management team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain proper construction contract document files according to VA standards

  • Visit project sites to obtain information on facility/site conditions and develop recommendations during project development

  • Coordinate and attend post-award kick-off meetings and pre-construction conferences

  • Schedule, conduct, and document regular progress meetings and other construction-related project meetings with all interested parties to review project status, discuss problems, and resolve issues

  • Prepare project status reports when directed using VA enterprise contract management system formatting (to be provided by Contracting Officer’s Representative)

  • Coordinate construction operations between contractors, station personnel, and other government agencies and make recommendations for correction

  • Provide technical assistance in answering requests for information (RFI) from construction contractors

  • Review and monitor project schedules for construction progress with emphasis on milestone completion dates phasing requirements, workflow, material deliveries, test dates, etc

  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications To be successful in the role:

  • Experience in facility maintenance

  • Ability to organize project documents, develop progress reports and document issues

  • Understanding of local codes and requirements, safety requirements and quality control processes

  • Experience tracking the resolution of quality and safety issues, and supporting management in the resolution of those issues

  • Field knowledge of safety, scheduling, and cost control is desired

  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents

  • Current OSHA 30-hour training certificate desired
