SALISH KOOTENAI COLLEGE PT Administrative Assistant- HCT Dept. in PABLO, Montana

General Summary: Assists the Department Head in administrative activities for the Department. Prepares reports as requested by Department Head and Director of Career and Technical Education. Maintains files for HCT Program. Assists in establishing and maintaining relationships with contractors and with tribal, local, state, and federal agencies to obtain job placement information and to assist with recruitment efforts throughout Montana and Northwest region. Advises students through the recruiting, registration and retention process. Tracks student progress throughout the year and follows up with student placement after program completion; maintains records of job placements in conjunction with the SKC Career Center. Assists instructors in monitoring students on simulators and in the yard. Serves as point of contact for HCT students, potential students, and the general public. Maintains records and follows required procedures for the College's GSA Excess program. Maintains files on vehicles and equipment, including purchases, sales, transfers, repairs and maintenance. Operates computers, printers, fax machine, calculators, copy machine, and typewriters.

Minimum Qualifications: Associates Degree in Business or Office Professions OR five-year administrative assistant experience in lieu of the degree. Effective written and oral communication skills. Effective computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, spreadsheets, databases, and Internet. Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people. Understanding of, or ability to quickly learn, college enrollment and retention processes and refer students to appropriate resources. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple responsibilities. Have knowledge of Salish and Kootenai Tribes and the Mission and Goals of Salish Kootenai College. Experience in academic advising with Native American students, preferred. Experience working with budgets and grants, preferred.
