GuideOne Insurance Sr. Commercial Lines Field Underwriter - Remote Opportunity in PA, United States

As the Sr. Commercial Lines Field Underwriter, you will be responsible for analyzing, appraising and assessing exposures and acceptable risks for our Special Risk underwriting unit. You will also be specializing in Group Affiliated Religious Organizations business to determine coverages and premiums that are both adequate and competitive. To be successful in this position, you will need to be a self-starter and have a hunger to drive new business and coordinate a portfolio of established renewal business.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Underwriting Leader to analyze exposures, collect additional underwriting information, evaluate and price quotes submitted by agents to select acceptable risks at an adequate premium.

  • Work closely with our Business Development Leaders to identify new business opportunities.

  • Work closely with our Actuarial team to price renewals and new business opportunities.

  • Administers endorsements or changes in policies.

  • Reviews and revises coverage forms and manuscripts to meet the needs of the insureds.

  • Negotiates pricing and coverage options with agents.

  • Builds successful relationships with agents to drive increased, positive business flow.

  • Collaborates with Claims and Loss Control Representatives to achieve profitable growth and assess exposures.

  • Serves as a mentor for a Underwriting Assistant with the analysis of individual accounts.

  • Performs other related work as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in business administration, finance, or related field of study preferred.

  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in commercial underwriting, including three years in a property and casualty insurance company.

  • CPCU, IIA, or other related designation desired, but not required.

  • Experience writing business for churches or religious affiliated institutions preferred.

  • Experience in writing group affiliated business, desired but not required.

    Recommended Qualifications:

  • Broad knowledge of common terms, practices, processes and regulations in the P&C insurance industry.

  • An ability to consistently apply advanced underwriting concepts and practices within the P&C underwriting field.

  • Adept at applying negotiating skills, reasonableness and exercising sound judgment in analysis and decision making processes.

  • Ability to convey clear & concise information to others utilizing excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Strong customer service orientation.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft products including a strong foundation in Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.) for the purpose of strategic analysis.

  • Strong attention to numeric and other details.

  • Strong customer service orientation.

  • Organizational skills and ability to manage large work volume and meet tight deadlines.

    Compensation:

  • $56,400 - $94,000 commensurate with experience, plus bonus eligibility

  • $62,100 - $103,500 commensurate with experience in CA, CT, MA, NJ, NY, and PA, plus bonus eligibility
