Aerotek CNC Machinist in Oxford, North Carolina

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Journeyman CNC Machinist who possesses the expertise to design, document, set-up, program, reverse engineer, and machine intricate components from a diverse range of raw materials while maintaining precision tolerances of .0001”.

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Design, document, and fabricate fixtures using various materials for CNC 2 axis lathe, 3 axis milling center, and 3 axis water jet applications.

  • Program and set up CNC mills, lathes, and water jet machines, utilizing conversational programming (PROTOTRAK SM, FAST CAM, ALEXSYS, TAGLIANO), CAD software (AutoCAD), and CAM software (GIBBS CAM).

  • Modify programs manually using G-code programming language.

  • Conduct precise measurements using dial calipers, micrometers, depth micrometers, height gauges, and other precision tools.

  • Maintain a tolerance of .0001” throughout machining processes.

  • Complete assigned tasks independently with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrate strong mechanical problem-solving skills.

  • Machine a variety of materials including ultim1000, peek, acetal, aluminum, stainless steel, mild steel, and tool steels.

  • Optimize cutting speeds and feeds to enhance CNC machine efficiency.

  • Interpret complex CAD drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols.

  • Generate detailed 2D drawings using AutoCAD for documentation and reference.

  • Reverse engineer, document, set up, program, and machine parts as required, utilizing available equipment.

  • Utilize MICROVIEW CMM for geometric data capture and integration with AutoCAD.

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on all machine shop equipment to ensure optimal performance.

  • Prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment to maximize productivity.

  • Uphold safety standards while operating shop equipment.

  • Utilize Maximo for work order and preventive maintenance systems.

  • Provide training as necessary to support team development.

Minimum Education Required:

  • High School Graduate or GED

Minimum Years Experience Required:

  • 5 – 10 years

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY:

The CNC Machinist will be responsible for the setup, operation, programming, and maintenance of CNC equipment, ensuring adherence to quality standards and production schedules.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:

  1. Associate Degree in Machine Tool Technology from an accredited institution OR an Accredited Apprenticeship and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

  2. OR GED/High School Diploma AND 10 years of relevant experience.

  3. Advanced computer proficiency.

  4. Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend complex mechanical and electrical schematics.
