University of Mississippi Director of Development (School of Engineering) in Oxford, Mississippi

This Position is for a Director of Development (School of Engineering) with a public university work location in University, MS.

Definition of Class

This position identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards gift prospects. The incumbent plans, executes and administers programs to identify funding opportunities, develops proposal strategies and cultivates solicitation of gifts, maintains knowledge of and communicates details of gift planning opportunities, and leads volunteers in fundraising efforts or engagement activities.

Examples of Work Performed

Develops fundraising strategies for assigned program.

Evaluates progress toward goals and adjusts as necessary.

Identifies and researches funding opportunities.

Coordinates special events for major donor prospects.

Works with communications department to develop fundraising materials.

Arranges visits with donors via phone, email and social media.

Represents the department at various social and professional functions.

Compiles data for proposal submission and reporting.

Sends biographical updates to the development database.

Runs reports to gather data for building a trip or sharing information with a supervisor.

Travels overnight and on weekends to meet with prospective donors.

May provide guidance and supervision for support staff.

Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

Identifies funding opportunities, develops strategies, and solicits gifts.

Collaborates with dean/director and staff to set goals and strategies.

Travels and represents assigned programs at various university functions.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

AND

Experience:

Four (4) years of experience related to the above described duties.

Substitution Statement:

Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
