The Shafer Center Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Specialist 1 in Owings Mills, Maryland

Summary: The ABA Specialist 1 will provide high quality individualized programming and services to all students at The Shafer Center. The ABA Specialist 1 will follow all Shafer Center policies, and protocols to ensure the safety of students, integrity of services, and compliance with all legal and ethical guidelines. The ABA Specialist 1 will work directly with students, implementing individualized skill acquisition and behavior reduction programming, under the supervision of a BCBA, attend scheduled supervision and team meetings, complete assigned tasks, and engage in professional and ethical behavior towards all students and staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Clinical and Technical Skills: Active engagement in staff trainings and student observations/overlaps Maintains confidentiality and dignity of student - never discusses the student in front of them Assists in activities of daily living as needed including toileting and feeding as appropriate for the student Work one-to-one to implement a variety of procedures and IEP supplementary aides and services with all students at TSC Follows behavioral protocols, standards of practice, and ethical and legal guidelines with integrity Implements teaching procedures with support from supervisor including but not limited to: discrete trial teaching, task analyzed chaining procedures, self-management systems, and the use of token economies. Prompt, honor and acknowledge functional communication across all communication modalities Learn, navigate and use Central Reach according to training protocols Physical Support - Passes SUPPORT Levels 1, 2 and 3 Data Collection - Collect data (continuous and discontinuous) on Central Reach Analytical - ability to synthesizes complex and/or diverse information Problem Solving - ability to identify and resolves problems in a timely manner and develop alternative solutions Judgment - to exhibit sound and accurate judgment and make timely decisions Professional Skills: Arrive on time for work day and attend morning meetings or completes morning tasks accurately and on time Proficient in Outlook and able to use and follow calendar and email functions Communication - the ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; to respond well to questions and demonstrates effective presentation skills Written Communication - ability to write clearly and concisely as well as being able to read and interpret written information Ethics - to be honest and work with integrity to uphold organizational values Supervisory Skills: (if applicable) NA Interpersonal Skills: Maintain positive and professional demeanor with students, supervisors, and staff Prepares and attends individual supervision meetings on time Able to communicate effectively with SUPPORT, CMT and Operations using the TSC walkie system Team Work - ability to balance team and individual responsibilities; to be able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives Other duties as assigned Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret programs, intervention plans and data. Ability to use technical vocabulary accurately. Math Ability: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such frequency, percentage and rate of change. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to Job Description - ABA Specialist 1 interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written or diagram form and deal with several abstract nd concrete variables. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should proficiency in Microsoft products - word, excel, outlook, PowerPoint. Certificates and Licenses: None required Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The Shafer Center has a very fast paced environment and being able to stay focused is essential. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Lighting is very bright. Employees will be requires to assist students with toileting and hygiene as well as feeding.
