The Michigan Milk Producers Association is seeking an experienced Facility Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at our Ovid, MI facility. This pivotal role focuses on supervising daily maintenance activities and systems to meet the manufacturing needs of our milk processing facility, ensuring adherence to cost guidelines. Success in this position requires solid organizational skills, a strong mechanical aptitude, and methodical problem-solving abilities.

About Us: Established in 1916, the Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) is a dairy farmer-owned cooperative and processor, ranked as the 10th largest in the U.S. MMPA serves dairy farmers across Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Indiana, operating SQF Level 3 dairy ingredient plants in Michigan, a cheese plant in Indiana (Middlebury Cheese Company), and a dairy product plant in Ohio (Superior Dairy). Our diverse product line includes fluid milk, cheese, ultra-filtered milk, ice cream, butter, nonfat dry milk, cream, and condensed skim milk.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a skilled maintenance team to meet plant needs.
  • Coach and counsel team members; implement discipline when needed.
  • Oversee the Computerized Maintenance Management System for optimal efficiency.
  • Define and implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for safety, cost, labor, downtime, and maintenance completion rates.
  • Utilize breakdown analysis to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure maintenance projects stay within budget and on schedule.
  • Coordinate activities of external contractors.
  • Recommend improvements to equipment, procedures, and practices.
  • Lead safety initiatives and compliance efforts.
  • Develop recommendations for plant and process improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • 3+ years of maintenance supervisory experience
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • High mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Knowledge of PLCs, controls, and mechanical trades
  • Experience with Boiler and ammonia systems preferred
  • Background in food or beverage processing operations is a plus
