Description of Job

Must successfully complete and pass a comprehensive background check.

Positions are for uniformed,limited commissionlaw enforcement rangers. Positions involve extensive customer service and public contact while patrolling land and water enforcing Colorado Parks and Wildlife laws.

Duties include, but are not limited to: park pass sales and inspections, fishing license checks, campground reservations checks, assisting with medical and law enforcement emergencies, issuing citations and/or warnings, writing reports, conducting boat safety and aquatic nuisance species inspections, coordinating special events, and performing a variety of maintenance tasks such as vehicle maintenance, minor repairs, sign installation, collecting recycling, and building and grounds cleaning and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position will perform physical activities that include, but are not limited to, lifting, balancing, walking, standing, stooping, climbing onto/into trailers and boats, crawling, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and bending in different positions.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 21 years old (or will be by start date)

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work

  • Must not have any felony convictions, pending felony charges, or serious misdemeanors.

  • Must submit Comprehensive Background Questionnaire (Link with form and directions will be emailed to applicant after application is submitted)

  • All applicants must pass a complete criminal and driving history background investigation

  • Must consent to be fingerprinted for law enforcement job purposes

  • Must be enthusiastic, organized, and self-motivated

  • Must be able to perform, or with reasonable accommodation, the physical requirements as listed above

  • Able and willing to do data entry on tablets and computers

  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts

  • Willing to work outside and in inclement weather

  • Upon hire must attend and successfully complete required seasonal ranger training

  • Upon hire must attend and successfully complete required boat inspector training

  • Must become certified in First Aid and CPR within 30 days of hire (employer will provide if needed)

  • Supply and work in appropriate uniform as directed

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
