Team & Job Overview

The Marketing team is seeking a graphic designer to join its Brand Strategy and Creative Services function, which works to integrate EDC’s brand across the business and enable employees to effectively communicate the brand at every touchpoint, to inspire our customers and stakeholders, and ultimately drive EDC’s brand health and reputation.

The successful candidate has a versatile portfolio in digital and print, a strong strategic design sense, project management skills, and a drive to immerse themselves in EDC’s brand and help accelerate its impact.

You will collaborate with a team of brand strategists, creatives, and external agencies to bring EDC’s brand to life through creative strategy and design, campaigns, communication tools and tactics, across all platforms. Relying on strategic creative capabilities, collaboration and big-picture thinking, the Graphic Designer will support the various business lines in the creation of reports, infographics, data visualization, digital graphics, high impact PowerPoint presentations, product sheets and other branded materials. You will also support our Accessibility brand expert in the development and rollout of EDC’s accessible brand guidelines.

As a subject matter expert, you will support brand strategists to review materials produced by external agencies and internal stakeholders to ensure consistency and alignment with the brand guidelines. You will provide advice, coaching and creative solutions to EDC colleagues to help them integrate the brand in their every day.

The candidate is an experienced designer with a proven ability to build brand guidelines, visual identities and creative frameworks. Driven by effective teamwork and continuous improvement, you will contribute to multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, interpret creative briefs, provide recommendations for the best creative approach, present your work with confidence, and receive feedback for development.

You will leverage brand research, best practices, and expertise from internal subject matter experts to effectively inform and develop creative pieces. You understand the importance of brand integration and consistency, and act as a champion for the brand across the organization.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Support Marketing’s Brand Strategy & Creative Services team in the delivery of the brand strategy and creative services, based on EDC’s strategic direction, market, audiences and employee insights.

  • Manage projects and tools related to employee brand enablement including: the brand asset management portal, the creation of tools & templates to guide and align users to brand standards and help bring the brand to life across channels and touchpoints.

  • Support the continuous evolution of EDC’s brand identity guidelines, to ensure brand consistency and differentiation.

  • Act as SME (subject matter expert), advising on implementation of various external and internal initiatives, including brand content, visuals, iconography & photography for campaigns, presentations and digital initiatives, working with Marketing, and other departments.

  • Conceptualize, craft, and roll out creative for traditional and digital assets, including reports, product sheets, banners, social media posts, website layout, virtual event graphics, infographics, events collateral, presentations, digital screens, etc.

Key Competencies

  • Understanding of brand and its role as a key strategic pillar.

  • Ability to leverage visual identity, brand positioning, messaging, value propositions for various audience segments to produce moodboards, creative campaigns and other design collateral.

  • Understanding of the creative process from brief to implementation.

  • Knowledge of digital and UX principles and ability to apply the brand to enhance the user experience.

Screening Criteria

  • College diploma or degree in Graphic Design

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in graphic design, brand strategy, marketing, communications with a versatile portfolio of creative work.

  • Advanced knowledge of digital and print graphic design, and creative principles and practices.

  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat).

  • Comfortable designing and formatting in Microsoft Office; mastery of PowerPoint.

  • Strong production experience to quickly and accurately lay out creative in print and digital.

  • Experience producing, evolving and applying complex brand and visual identity guidelines and standards.

  • Ability to pick up a project at any point from brief to archive.

Asset

  • Experience and understanding of brand accessibility and production of accessible brand standards. Familiarity with WCAG 2.1AA standards.

  • Experience working in Agile.

  • Experience working in a creative agency.

  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)

Salary Range:

  • Marketing Generalist 17: Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $81,012 To $108,017.

Location

  • Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.

  • This role may be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa, or from the Community Hubs in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto/Mississauga, Montreal/Laval/Brossard or Halifax.
