MD Financial Management, a division of Scotia Wealth Management, has an exciting opportunity for a talented, enthusiastic, and client-focused Estate and Trust Analyst to join our team.
As an Estate and Trust Analyst, you will be responsible for the administration and settlement of estates.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
Determine documentation requirements specific to each product held
Communicate documentation requirements and MD procedures to regional MD staff or directly to external executors and their agents (i.e., lawyers and accountants) as required
Review legal documentation to ensure it is compliant
Liaise with Compliance, Legal and Registration, Taxation, Technology and Operations when required
Open and maintain estate accounts and prepare documentation
Communicate with external financial institutions with respect to their own estate documentation requirements
Assist with educating regional staff on the estate process
Respond to inquiries to resolve estate issues of executors and estate professionals
Be responsible for maintaining a follow-up system for estate cases/issues to ensure established SLA standards are being met
Analyze each estate to determine specific tax consequences outlined under the Income Tax Act for the completion of T4RSP, T4RSP, RC249, T4A, RL2 and NR4 tax slips
Calculate amounts subject to income tax on the above slips to ensure compliance with tax regulations
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
3-5 years’ experience in the financial services industry
Thorough understanding of the financial services industry and rules regarding Estates, Trusts, RESPs, RRSPs/RRIFs, TFSAs and non-registered investments and applicable tax-related issues is an asset
Bilingualism (English/French) is preferred
A focus on client service
Solid organizational skills
Excellent communication skills
Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness, and flexibility
The ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team
Strong attention to detail
Sound capacity to assess, develop and monitor complex processes
An ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
