Securitas Security Services USA, Inc. Alarm dispatcher (On-Call) in Ottawa, Ontario

We are seeking a part-time/on-call Remote Video Monitoring Operator / Alarms Dispatcher. In this role you will monitor multiple video feeds from various locations in real-time to detect and identify any suspicious or unusual activity. Utilize video management software (VMS) to manage and navigate video feeds. Act quickly upon identifying any suspicious or potentially criminal activity by following written site-specific instructions. Dispatch resources (Police, mobile patrols, on-site security etc.), and complete detailed incident reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Video Surveillance Monitoring: Continuous Observation: Monitor multiple video feeds from various locations in real-time to detect and identify any suspicious or unusual activity.Technology Operation: Utilize video management software (VMS) to manage and navigate video feeds efficiently.

  • Incident Response: Rapid Response: Act quickly upon identifying any suspicious or potentially criminal activity by following written site-specific instructions.Resource Dispatch: Dispatch appropriate resources, such as police officers, security mobile patrols, or other field staff, based on the nature and urgency of the incident.Communication: Coordinate with emergency services, security teams, and internal company personnel to manage and resolve incidents effectively.

  • Reporting and Documentation: Real-Time Reporting: Document all observations, actions taken, and communications related to incidents in a clear and detailed manner.Report Writing: Generate comprehensive reports on incidents and surveillance activities, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.Email and Phone Communication: Communicate incident details and status updates via email and phone calls, maintaining a professional and concise approach.

  • Operational Support: System Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of surveillance equipment and software, reporting any technical issues to the appropriate support team.Shift Coverage: Provide coverage for various shifts, including overnight, weekends, and holidays, as per the rotational schedule. Be prepared to work on short notice to cover for full-time operators on days off, sick days, or vacations.

  • Work Ethic and Integrity: Unsupervised Work: Demonstrate reliability and trustworthiness while working independently, often without direct supervision.Confidentiality: Handle sensitive information and situations with discretion and adhere to protocols.

  • Team Collaboration: Coordination: Work collaboratively with other operators, dispatchers, managers, and security personnel to ensure smooth operation and effective incident response.Training Participation: Engage in ongoing training sessions and briefings to stay updated on procedures, systems, and protocols.

  • Shift Management: Adaptability: Adjust to varying shift patterns and be flexible with working hours.Availability: Maintain availability for on-call duties, ensuring readiness to work additional shifts if required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Security guard license

  • General computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite

  • Strong typing skills (50 wpm or more) and security report writing abilities

  • Clear communication in English. French is an asset

  • Ability to work independently with a high level of trustworthiness

  • Ability to remain focused and alert during long shifts

  • Quick decision-making skills when responding to security incidents

  • Flexibility to cover various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Previous experience in IT or video surveillance roles is a plus, but not mandatory.
