Your Role

Clinical Patient Care:

  • At the direction of the RN, Physician or Advanced Practice Provider:

  • Inserts peripheral IV’s, hangs IV fluid without medication and maintains IV flow rates. Observes and documents condition of infusion site. Removes IV lines as directed by RN. Initiates/Maintains oxygen therapy protocols. Completes 12-lead EKG. Initiates/Maintains cardiac monitoring, detects dysrhythmias and notifies RN. Performs suctioning during transport.

  • Follows CDC isolation guidelines, appropriately uses PPE, performs hand washing per policy and enforces safety regulations.

  • Acts as a customer service champion utilizing ICARE (Introduce, Connect, Anticipate, Reinforce, End) keeping patients informed, providing information, updating patients, apologizing for waits, demonstrating caring, compassion concern, and a sense of urgency, advocating for pain management, and ensuring that patients can get help at any time.

  • At the direction of the Physician or Advanced Practice Provider:

  • Administers ACLS medications when physician present at bedside

  • Administrative:

  • Manages phone calls, properly updates his status on his work issued device and performs accurate order entry when needed

Qualifications

What Will You Need:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • Completion of a paramedic program

  • One year of emergency, hospital, or FD equivalent experience

  • Previous training for Ventricular Assist Device (VAD), Epidural Cath, Sheath, and Temp Pacer

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED :

  • Associate of Science (AS) degree in EMS or Fire Science

  • Critical care paramedic program completion

  • ICU training (complete several shifts shadowing ICU RN)

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :

  • Current, valid State of Florida license as a Paramedic

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Job Summary:

The Transporter Tech II performs patient care under the direction of and as assigned by the charge nurse or ANM, and/or physician or their designee. Performs general clinical, non-clinical duties necessary to expedite the efficient functioning of the nursing unit consistent with the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures. Adheres to the AdventHealth corporate compliance plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
