FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF THE LOTTERY – DIVISION OF COMPUTER SYSTEMS OPERATIONS

OPS Part Time: $17.00 per hour, 24 hours per week

This requisition will be used to fill multiple positions. Shift hours for each position are listed below:

Position 1 (24 hours/week): Monday and Tuesday 1:00PM-2:00AM

Position 2: (24 hours/week): Saturday and Sunday 1:00PM-2:00AM

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Encompasses the operation of multiple central site large scale computer systems, as well as computer peripheral equipment. Performs a variety of highly responsible duties, involving independent judgment and initiative, some of which may be of a sensitive nature. Monitors the computer systems for system efficiency and timeliness of activities. Confers with system analysts, vendors, and all users of the Lottery computer equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Each employee is expected to be knowledgeable of the Lottery’s Responsible Gaming program, including the No Underage Play and Play Within Your Means messaging, and will ensure retailers and players are aware of the program and provided information, as necessary.

  • Operates all components of the Lottery’s computer systems. This includes timely completion of monitored jobs and processing daily draws for games that occur during specific shift time frames. Helps to plan workloads, workflows, and priorities for job scheduling. Makes corrections necessary to complete work on schedule.

  • Handles emergency situations (computer hardware failures, software problems, inclement weather, etc.) through approved emergency guidelines.

  • Follows approved agency procedures to balance reports generated by the daily draws, the ICS Systems, and the Vendor’s reports. Must be able to handle any draw discrepancies according to approved emergency procedures. Also, must be able to resolve any balancing issues as per standard operating procedures.

  • Provide necessary assistance to the Computer Systems Operation Manager, the Orlando Data Center Shift Supervisor, and the COOP Coordinator in the development, implementation and testing of the Lottery's Information Technology Disaster Recovery Plan (ITDRP) and Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP).

  • Monitors environment and electrical power to maintain narrow margin of operating conditions necessary to keep computer systems functioning.

  • Operates all components of the Lottery’s computer systems.

  • Operates a personal computer in a Microsoft Windows environment as needed for electronic correspondence, word processing, spread sheets, etc.

  • Requests service as needed on all computer systems should problems arise. Coordinates the resolution of all problems after normal business hours.

  • Maintains operating records on production and performance reports. Documents daily actions in online operator log (OPERLOG) for review daily by Operations personnel,

  • Assists Tallahassee operations staff as needed.

  • Attendance is an essential function of this position.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • IBM servers with the AIX operating systems.

  • Microsoft Widows servers with Windows server operating systems.

  • Operation of a variety of data processing equipment.

  • Operation of computer peripheral equipment

  • PC experience in a Microsoft Windows environment.

    Other job-related requirements for this position

  • A high school diploma, or its equivalent, and two (2) years of experience** in the operation of a personal computer and computer peripheral equipment, or

  • A high school diploma, or its equivalent, and one (1) year of experience** in the operation of a personal computer and computer peripheral equipment, and the completion of a program of study from a vocational/technical school or data processing vendor in an area of data processing (excluding data entry).

    • Experience**: College course work may be substituted for one year of the required work experience provided the course work included at least four (4) courses in an area of data processing other than data entry.

  • Successful passing of a criminal background check (state, local, and national) is required) .
