Schedule: Full-time, 36 hours per week

Shift: Nights, 7:00 pm - 7:00 am (with weekend rotation)

Unit Highlights:

  • The Neuro Medical Unit is a 40 bed PCU unit that specializes in neurological conditions including: Stroke, Epilepsy, Complex Migraines, Myasthenia Gravis, Multiple Sclerosis, Brain Tumors, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, and much more.

  • Eight of those beds are equipped for continuous seizure monitoring through video EEG.

  • The epilepsy team and our specially trained staff partner together to give the best care to these patients.

  • We are the only center in Central Florida designated as a Level 4 Epilepsy center.

Caring Together

  • We are fortunate to have a diverse staffing model that consists of various levels of experience. The epilepsy team and our specially trained staff partner together to give the best care to these patients.

  • Patient care model: RNs/LPNS, Patient Care Technicians & Nurse Technicians

  • Ratios: 4-5 patients per 1 RN

  • The Clinical Nurse Specialist, Clinical Nurse Educator, Unit Leadership, and preceptors team together to help prepare and train our newest team members. Our unit works closely with Dr. Acosta, the Medical Director for Stroke for AdventHealth Central Florida and Dr. Lee, the Medical Director of our Epilepsy Center. The team of Physicians, Care Managers, RNs, Rehab Therapists, Dieticians, and Patient Care Techs all working together from the moment the patient is admitted all the way through their discharge.

The role you’ll contribute:

The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a registered professional nurse who supports the Nurse Manager or Director in overall operations of their assigned unit. Is able to demonstrate critical thinking skills, creativity, and has the knowledge to manage resources to achieve quality performance, positive employee relations, and compliance with hospital guidelines. The ANM is skilled in coaching, mentoring, and leading a professional and technical team in the delivery of services to our patient population. The ANM assures quality of care is delivered to our patients and demonstrates effective stewardship of scarce resources. Is supportive of change activities on their unit and works to assure implementation of change that may occur. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

  • Business of Healthcare Delivery – Utilizes a working knowledge of health care economics and healthcare public policy as it applies to the delivery of patient care

  • Relationships and Behaviors – Utilizes relationship in influencing behaviors on the unit

  • Clinical Practice Knowledge – Is an expert in the clinical practice requirements of their unit.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or Diploma in Nursing

  • Current valid State of Florida or multistate license as a Registered Nurse

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

  • Advanced Life Support (ACLS) Certification

  • EKG competency testing

  • At least one (1) year of prior PCU-level experience

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree of Nursing (BSN) or Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN)

  • Professional Certification

  • Previous nursing experience in the Neuro specialty

  • Prior leadership experience
