ASRC Federal Holding Company Part-time Shift Supervisor in Orient Point, New York

ASRC Federal Field Services, a Subsidiary of ASRC Federal Holding Company, is currently seeking a Part-time Shift Supervisor at the Plum Island Animal Disease Research Center, located on Plum Island, NY. (1.5 nautical miles off North Fork of Long Island & 6 nautical miles off coast of Old Saybrook, CT). Marine transportation furnished by Gov’t provided ferry.

Summary:

Provide supervisory support to O&M staff during shift watches, weekends & holidays. Areas of responsibility to include: Utility Plants, Laboratory Maintenance & Operations, Transportation, Emergency Medical Services & Response and Facility & Grounds Maintenance. Serve as a liaison to operational notifications, communications, and operational task assignments. Provide onsite supervision to ensure efficient workflow and shift personnel exchanges. Provide departments and project management with required notifications and documentation of personnel attendance, maintenance activities and/or anomalies. Assist in scheduling of routine as well as non-routine maintenance tasks as well as other operational services.

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Function as Officer in Charge of Fire Department and Ambulance Agency.

  • Monitor employees' work levels and review work performance.

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and injuries; prepare reports of findings.

  • Monitor operational records, such as utility, vessel & equipment operator logbooks, inventory data, repair, and maintenance statistics.

  • Compile operational data & submit reports. Examine objects, systems, or facilities, and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.

  • Conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.

  • Supervise employees work performance and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.

  • Perform quality assurance checks of maintenance functions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Make recommendations regarding personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate maintenance policies and procedures.

  • Counsel employees about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.

  • Examine objects, systems, or facilities, and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.

  • Support projects such as implementation of SOPs, Preventive Maintenance tasks and equipment inventory tasks.

  • Minimum 4 years of direct experience in maintenance and operations field.

  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

  • Ability to lead and direct the work of others.

  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Requirements :

HS Diploma; 7 years' experience or education in lieu. Fire Officer I, ICS-300 certification and/or other service command experience. Must be eligible for Gov't security clearance, possess a valid driver license and must undergo required examination and vaccination. As a condition for employment, all personnel entering the BSL-3 biocontainment facilities at Plum Island shall not be in contact with specific susceptible animals and their premises off Plum Island for a period of five (5) days after leaving biocontainment. Currently, restricted species are cattle, sheep, goats, deer, other ruminants, and swine. Contact with horses, birds (agricultural and pet birds) and rabbits are normally permitted, but restrictions may be placed on staff working with or near contagious agents affecting these species. Restricted livestock or other restricted animals may not be housed on the premises where the employee lives and where the quarantine cannot be enforced.

This position is offering a pay range of $33.26 - $49.89 /hourly rate depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law.
