Position Announcement

 

Utah Valley University is seeking an Administrative Assistant who is detail-oriented and resourceful individual to organize community education classes for the Wasatch campus with the support of the Community Education department. Under general supervision, you will perform moderately complex and confidential administrative duties, drawing on a broad range of skills and a thorough understanding of organizational policies and procedures. Your responsibilities will include composing, editing, and proofreading correspondence and reports, as well as preparing various administrative documents. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, has strong communication skills, and is eager to contribute to the growth and success of community education at UVU.

 

Summary of Responsibilities

 

• Performs moderately complex and confidential administrative work such as entering student data, maintaining records, scheduling appointments, composing routine correspondence, and obtaining/providing factual information requiring knowledge of policies and procedures of both assigned and work related areas.

• Organizes community education classes for the Wasatch campus with support from the Community Education department.

• Assists the Wasatch Campus Director as needed, along with all other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate's degree and one year of experience; OR any combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling three years.

 

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

 

Knowledge

 

• Knowledge of best standards practice relating to position and assigned tasks.

• Knowledge of computers and computer software applications including, Banner, Access databases, e-mail, internet, presentations, MS Office suite, particularly Excel, Publisher, Word and Outlook.

 

Skills

 

• Skills in office methods, techniques, practices, and procedures.

• Skills in the use of computers and computer software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and databases.

• Skills in customer service and professionalism.

 

Abilities

 

• Ability to perform a variety of administrative support duties with minimum supervision.

• Ability to follow verbal and written procedures.

• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

• Ability to meet and work with people of diverse backgrounds.

• Ability to coordinate and assist in the preparation and monitoring of departmental financial transactions.
