Job Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Systems Office, Orchard Park, NY

Schedule: Monday – Friday with overtime as needed

Position: Exempt

Reports To: Controller

Job Summary :

The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reporting on the College’s financial results. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the posting, reporting, and reconciliation of all payroll related items and serves as the primary backup to the College’s payroll administrator. In addition, the Senior Accountant will actively participate in the annual budgeting process, the identification and implementation of improvements in the College’s business office operations, and other duties as assigned.

This role is performed onsite in Orchard Park, NY. A hybrid work schedule is available with performance and time in position considerations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review and post payroll and benefits activity each payroll period and reconcile related accruals monthly. Manage and provide resolution solutions for all payroll tax notices. Primary backup for the Payroll Administrator.

  • Administer the College’s Expense Report application, submit reimbursement files and post monthly activity to the general ledger.

  • Prepare, analyze, and report on financial information, including revenue and expense, capital expenditures, and account collections.

  • Actively participate in the development of the annual budget.

  • Assist Controller and Senior Accounting Manager with audits and regulatory inquiries.

*Other accounting duties as assigned by CFO and Controller.

Qualifications:

  • Degree: 4-year degree in accounting

  • Experience: 5 or more years of general ledger accounting or similar experience

  • Computer Skills: Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including use of pivot tables; Basic skills in other Microsoft applications

  • Schedule availability: 40+ hours per week, Monday – Friday; overtime as needed

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Works well independently

Preferred qualifications:

  • Education: MBA or CPA license

  • Computer Skills: Oracle financial system

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Position requires standing or sitting in a stationary position as well as the occasional need to lift, carry, push, and/or move objects up to 10 pounds.

Position also requires the use of computer technology/equipment.

Position requires the ability to hear conversations and receive information in person and over the telephone.

Position requires the ability to convey detailed and important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Starting Salary:

$75,000 to 82,000 per year

This is an exempt position.

The selected candidate’s actual base pay for this role will take into account a wide range of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
