About you and this role- What you will do in this role

TheShops Weld SME​provides fabrication technical expertise which may be equipment based or repair technique based that impacts the availability and maintainability of the facility. The role requires expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in welding and fabrication.

Responsibilities- Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role

• Serves as a subject matter expert in welding and fabrication.

• Manages training and certifications for all Fabrication shop employees and contractors.

• Develops and approves weld repair plans.

• Provides technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, developing repair plans, and completing QA/QC for completed fabrication jobs.

• Ensures that work requests include weld SME input on repair details and if necessary provides onsite/offsite technical support for deviations from this data, for equipment that is critical for the process.

• Ensures repairs, repair techniques and equipment specific training are documented and made available.

• Provides fabrication input to Global Project Methodology activities.

• Enters quality, service and product performance information into the reporting system.

• Provides fabrication input for work packages to ensure standards are followed, as required. Provides input on development of work orders during development of turnaround work particularly on critical equipment requiring review or input.

• Completes EH&S orientation and all required training. Exhibits safe work behaviors and works safely without injury or insult to the environment. Fulfills all requirements of the production area and/or maintenance area EH&S.

• Supports Industrial Hygiene and other EH&S work process activities. Incorporates safety considerations in planning and repairs. Understands impact of process chemistry with respect to materials of construction.

Ideal candidate possesses the following skills

• Extensive Welding and Fabrication experience.

• Ability to develop and approve weld repair plans.

• Ability to manage team training and certifications.

Qualifications- Required education, experience and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves)

• A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).

• A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills -An expanded list of qualifications that are "nice to have", but not essential

• Current API 510 and 570 certifications or willing and able to obtain after hire.

• 2 Year Technical degree or higher.
