Purpose/Introduction

The Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) Department manages our environmental performance, assures regulatory compliance and drives Our Journey to Zero, the company’s blueprint to achieve our goal to eliminate events that could inflict serious–or even fatal–injuries to employees or contractors, or result in severe process safety events. The position will be primarily responsible for the recordkeeping, reporting, and oversight of the Air Permitting and other Air Compliance programs at the facility. This individual is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations as well as adherence to company policies, procedures, and implementation of company best practices. #HPCP

Responsibilities

  • Manages environmental compliance with regulations and permits related to company operations.

  • Develops and implements strategies to maintain environmental compliance.

  • Develops methods and assembles data for environmental compliance reports and performance tracking.

  • Assemble, prepare, and submit data for environmental compliance reports and general enforcement issues.

  • Evaluating gaps and helps deploy environmental compliance solutions.

  • Prepares impact review and implements regulatory changes.

  • Provides environmental training to operations, maintenance, and other departments.

  • Maintains environmental compliance database.

  • Ensures compliance with agreed orders and other legal documents.

  • Conducts environmental audits to evaluate compliance with permits and regulations.

  • Represents the company during agency inspections and negotiations.

  • Serves as an internal consultant on environmental projects and solutions by participating in the Management of Change (MOC) process.

  • Participate in Trade Associations and interact/network with other industry representatives as necessary.

  • Establish and report metrics to measure both compliance and progress on action items.

  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or related field

  • Must have at least 4 years of environmental or process experience in a chemical/refinery setting.

  • Proficient in communicating the technical aspects of complex environmental laws and regulations.

  • Effective at working with different departments and contractors in a team environment.

  • Ability to resolve conflicts and reach agreements with other functional groups.

  • Developed presentation, writing, planning, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Understanding of chemical process unit operations and wastewater management systems.

  • Knowledge of environmental laws, permits, and regulations.

  • Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge of environmental laws, permits, and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of plastics and ethylene manufacturing processes and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience in RCRA and wastewater.

  • Class D Water License.

  • Supervisory Experience.

  • Experience with StackVision and/or specialty applications.
